Cumulus was born out of necessity.
In the aftermath of large-scale industrial failures like Deepwater Horizon, it became clear that traditional approaches to managing critical work were not enough. Manual processes, fragmented data, and limited visibility created unacceptable risk in environments where failure is not an option.
Our founding team began developing a better approach inside Shell’s innovation group, focused on digitizing frontline workflows and ensuring work was completed correctly, every time.
What started as a solution for complex oil and gas operations quickly proved to have a broader impact. As demand grew, Cumulus spun out to bring this technology to industries facing similar challenges.
Today, those same challenges are accelerating in new environments.
The rapid expansion of data centers and hyperscale infrastructure has created a new class of high-risk, high-precision construction. Our roots in oil and gas, where quality and safety are paramount, uniquely prepared us to support this next wave of global infrastructure.
